The RCMP demonstrated the range of police work that happens in Nanaimo.
The Nanaimo RCMP put on an open house at their detachment on Prideaux Street on Satuday, May 13.
RCMP, dressed in their day-to-day uniforms, red serge, and tactical gear, offered demonstrations and displayed equipment. The police dog unit was there, as was the emergency response team, explosives disposal unit, dive team, forensics team, and more. Community members were shown inside the cell block and children got a chance to sit in a police cruiser and sound the siren.
The open house happened in advance of the RCMP’s 150th anniversary in Canada. Look for more on that milestone in an upcoming issue of the News Bulletin.
