Nanaimo’s Rhonda Heaslip won a Canadian championship and the right to compete at the worlds.
Heaslip captured gold in her division at the Canadian Powerlifting Championships in Charlottetown, setting eight new Canadian records along the way. She was honoured as Best Lifter over all weight categories at the championships.
The world championships will be held this fall in St. Catharines, Ont.
Heaslip is also putting her muscle behind Raise the Bar, a fundraiser for the Nanaimo District General Hospital’s emergency room expansion project.
