Nanaimo’s top junior curler was chosen as Curl B.C.’s Junior Female Athlete of the Year.

Marika Van Osch of the Nanaimo Curling Centre was announced as the award recipient last week.

Van Osch had a busy season curling with different teams. She threw third rocks for the Sarah Daniels rink that won the Curl B.C. junior women’s championship and went on to take silver at nationals. Van Osch was named to the first all-star team at nationals, throwing 86 per cent at the event.

She was also a member of Wes Craig’s rink which won Curl B.C.’s mixed championship, and played fifth with Kesa Van Osch’s women’s rink that qualified to compete at the B.C. Scotties.

Marika Van Osch will be presented with her award at Curl B.C.’s annual awards banquet June 11 in Burnaby.
