There are no sad days in Mudville when players take the bat in the Nanaimo Adult Recreational Slo-Pitch League – every day is happy and sunny.
“It’s a good group. We compete, but it’s fun,” said Chuck Rogerson, one of the players.
The league, for women aged 45 and up and men 50 and up, will hold registration next week for the coming season. Organizers are looking for any players, and there is particularly a need for more ladies.
The rules make the game seniors-friendly; for example, players don't have to run the basepaths; they can ask for a pinch runner.
“It’s a lot of fun, a lot of laughs, but people play hard, they try hard,” Rogerson said.
Registration is Tuesday (April 21) and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. both days at the McGirr Sports Fields. Pick-up games will follow.
