Nanaimo runners can plan accordingly, now that the Run for the Mountain has been set for Sept. 17. Organizers of the annual six-kilometre run/walk around Westwood Lake are accepting registrations.
Every year a King and Queen of Westwood are crowned, as well as a Prince and Princess of Westwood for the youth division. New this year will be prizes in the masters division – winners will be proclaimed Emperor and Empress of Westwood. Pairs of Saucony running shoes go to all division winners.
Registration forms can be picked up at the Running Room at Country Club Centre or accessed online at www.runningroom.com. The entry fee is $20 for adults and $5 for youths. Proceeds go to Mount Benson Regional Park.
