Mid Island baseball team sweeps North Shore Twins, gets swept by Delta Blue Jays

The Mid Island Pirates are keeping competitive as a young team in the B.C. Premier Baseball League.

The Nanaimo-based Pirates (4-4) swept a doubleheader Saturday, April 23, against the North Shore Twins at Serauxmen Stadium, winning 3-1 and 4-1, but were then swept by the Delta Blue Jays the next day at Serauxmen by scores of 11-0 and 3-1.

In the first game Saturday, pitcher Jason Jung earned the win, throwing six innings and allowing two hits and one run. Brady Allen made the save and Graham Stephens was 2-for-3 at the plate.

In the second game, starter Dylan Gage got the win, going six innings and allowing two hits and one run while striking out six. Allen picked up another save and Easton Mould hit an RBI double.

GAME ON … The Pirates are on the road this coming weekend to play the Twins and Whalley Chiefs but return home to face the Abbotsford Cardinals on May 7 at 1 and 3:30 p.m.
