Charles-Andre Pelletier didn’t get a game star, but his teammates certainly recognized his impact on the game.
The Nanaimo Clippers’ new No. 1 goaltender was instrumental in the team’s 4-3 road win against the Powell River Kings on Saturday, making 45 saves.
“My first BCHL win, that’s very nice and we’re going to get more wins this year,” he said.
Clippers coach Bill Bestwick said Pelletier was "outstanding," and said the goalie's saves on some early Powell River power plays kept Nanaimo in the game.
"It's a big confidence booster knowing that you have a guy back there that can stop the puck," said Kyle Kramer, Clippers veteran. "Sometimes you risk some plays a little more knowing that you have a good goaltender back there."
Pelletier deflected praise after the game and stressed that the whole lineup contributed on Saturday.
"If we don't score we don't win and if I don't stop the puck we don't win, so it's a team effort," he said.
GAME ON … The Clippers' next game is their home opener this Friday (Sept. 17) when the Surrey Eagles visit Frank Crane Arena for a 7:10 p.m. faceoff.
