Nanaimo athletes showed their versatility last month at the Qualicum Beach Triathlon.

Byron Trajan won the June 26 event in 54 minutes, five seconds, about a minute and a half ahead of second-place finisher Normon Thibault. Deb Epps was the first woman to cross the finish line, in 1:04:43. Some other division winners included Seamus O’Toole, Barb Propp, Patti Rogers and Baris Basgorenay.

The 15th running of the race attracted 272 competitors. The adult division consisted of a 400-metre swim, an 18-kilometre bike course and a 5km run.
