The Nanaimo NightOwls coach has one championship in the books, and now comes baseball season.
Greg Frady, the first manager of Nanaimo’s expansion West Coast League baseball team, won his division at the U.S. Open Pickleball Championship in Naples, Fla., last weekend.
The 59-year-old resident of Port Charlotte, Fla., is a sponsored player on the U.S. circuit, according to a press release from the NightOwls. Frady went undefeated in singles play to win the U.S. Open tournament, then competed in the doubles brackets, as well, teaming with Dan Gillen.
“We are proud of what Greg has accomplished; he is one of the most determined, focused, energetic and competitive people you will ever meet, and it’s no surprise he is the U.S. Open champion,” said NightOwls general manager Jim Swanson in the release.
