Nanaimo Clippers fall behind in first-round playoff series

The Nanaimo Clippers will need a comeback in their first-round playoff series.

The Clippers trail their best-of-seven series against the Victoria Grizzlies two games to none after losing 4-2 and then 8-2 on Friday and Saturday, April 5-6, in the provincial capital.

Nanaimo outshot Vic in the first game, 38-32, but goals from Mike Murtagh and Gabriel Westling and two assists from Isa Parekh weren’t enough. Chazz Nixon saved 27 of 31 shots.

In Game 2, Dylan Kinch and Isa Parekh scored for Nanaimo and Hodges made 51 saves as his team was badly outshot, 59-38.

GAME ON … The Clippers and Grizzlies play Game 3 on Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena, and then play Game 4 on Wednesday, April 10, another 7 p.m. faceoff at the Frank.
