The Nanaimo Christian School Trail Blazers kept up with the best single-A competition in B.C. at provincials last week.
NCS hosted the provincial championships for senior A girls and the host Trail Blazers won two games and lost two games at the tourney.
The Trail Blazers opened with a 53-37 victory over Charles Bloom on March 1, but were matched up against B.C.’s best team, Credo Christian, the next day and lost 72-53. NCS got past Duncan Christian by a 53-47 score the day after that and ended the tourney Saturday, March 4, by being edged out 47-45 in the fifth-sixth-place game by St. Ann’s.
Trail Blazers player Naomi Vivian led her team in scoring in three out of the four games, including a game-high 30 points in the loss to Credo. Jada Kamerman led the way in the win against DCS, scoring 24 points.
Credo defeated Unity 57-50 in the provincial final.
Vivian was chosen a second-team all-star.
