Two Nanaimo lacrosse teams medalled at provincials, with the bantam A2 squad earning bronze and the peewee A1 T-men taking silver.

Ending this season with medals bodes well for next season and beyond.

Two more Nanaimo District Lacrosse Association teams medalled at provincial championships this month, with the bantam A2 Timbermen earning bronze and the peewee A1 T-men taking silver.

The bantams were big winners in their bronze-medal game in Vancouver on July 18, blowing out Prince George by an 8-2 score.

They had been edged out 4-3 by Saanich in the previous day’s semifinal.

Riley Gannon was chosen a tournament all-star and Dylan Clark won the Fair Play Award.

At peewee provincials in Richmond, Nanaimo made it to the gold-medal game, falling 6-4 to Ridge Meadows this past Sunday.

The peewee T-men had won three of their four round-robin games and then defeated Burnaby 7-3 in the semis.

Andrew Bowman was chosen a tournament all-star, Matt Boas won the Fair Play Award and Brett Fleming was selected as the tourney’s Fair Play Coach.
