The Nanaimo Pacific Boat Brokers Clippers will pretty much need to win out, now, to capture the provincial championships.

The city’s midget Tier 1 boys lost 4-3 to the Kelowna Rockets on Monday night to fall to 1-2 at the four-day tourney at the Nanaimo Ice Centre. The local midgets started the week with a 5-1 setback against the Cloverdale Colts on Sunday morning, but defeated the Prince George Cougars 5-3 in that night’s feature game.

Garrett Dunlop scored Nanaimo's only goal in the tournament opener. In the win over P.G., Jonathan Speer and Gibson Doney each scored a pair of goals and Cole Newman also tallied.

The midget Clippers face the Comox Valley Chiefs tonight (March 22) at 7:15 p.m. in a rematch of the Island final. On Wednesday Nanaimo takes on the favoured Surrey Thunder at 1:30 p.m. and the round robin’s top two teams will meet in the B.C. final that night at 8 p.m. All tournament games are at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
