Four Nanaimo curlers were a steal away from earning British Columbia jackets. Marg Obee and her teammates Noreen Martin, Moyra Graham and Inga Brunton placed second at Curl B.C.’s masters women’s provincials at Qualicum Beach on the weekend.
Facing Richmond’s Karin Host in the championship game, Obee scored three in the second-to-last end to tie the game at 5-5. Host made her hammer count in the last end, though, scoring one for the win and the berth at nationals.
Obee had defeated Host in pool play on the first day of the tournament.
Sally Noonan’s Nanaimo rink went winless at provincials.
