Juniors finally earn first win

The Nanaimo Timbermen junior A lacrosse team earned its first win of the season at long last.

The city's B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League team defeated the Langley Thunder 12-8 on Saturday on the mainland. Macgregor Johnston, Corey Shires and Paul Brebber had hat tricks, Mitch Parker scored twice and Ryan Nicks had a goal and three assists.

Pete Dubenski was the winning goalie as the T-men outshot the Thunder 49-48.

GAME ON … Nanaimo (1-9-1) visits Victoria (5-6) tonight (June 5). The junior Timbermen then host the Thunder on Saturday (June 9) at 5 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena.
