Junior B Timbermen buoyed by win

The Nanaimo Timbermen junior B team is heartened by a gritty road win last week.

The city’s Pacific North West Junior Lacrosse League team defeated the Westshore Bears 4-3 on Thursday night in Victoria.

The Bears got a power play with a minute left and the T-men had to hold the fort.

Goaltender Mike Berti was one of the heroes, as he made 45 saves while playing hurt. Goal support came from Dustin Kothlow, Bryden Pelletier, Myles Tierney and Ross Radcliffe.

Irene Morrison, team manager, said the win was “excellent” for team spirit.

“They ran across the floor to all the fans and went, ‘Yay,’” she said.

GAME ON … The junior B Timbermen (3-1) face the Campbell River Ravens on the road Sunday (May 22). The team then hosts the Cowichan Thunder on Wednesday (May 25) at 7:30 p.m. at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
