The Nanaimo Volleyball Club hosted a giant tournament on the weekend, and still found time to play some pretty good volleyball.

Two out of three Express teams managed top-10 finishes in the 22-team Island Super Series U16 girls’ tournament, played at four different venues in Nanaimo and Ladysmith on Saturday and Sunday.

The premier Express U16 side finished second at the tourney, dropping the final to Richmond’s Air Attack at the John Barsby Community Secondary School gym. The Express U15 girls finished ninth.

The Nanaimo tournament was the first of four Super Series events that will determine rankings going into Volleyball B.C.’s club championships in Abbotsford in May.
