DBL Timbermen slowed in losses

Nanaimo’s senior B lacrosse team lost 10-8 to the Valley Rebels on Friday, then lost again Saturday, 13-3 to the Tri-City Bandits.

The Nanaimo DBL Timbermen were slowed down by back-to-back road games on the weekend.

The city’s senior B lacrosse team lost 10-8 to the Valley Rebels on Friday, then lost again Saturday, 13-3 to the Tri-City Bandits.

T-men player Shawn Swanson said his team might have had a bit of a “ferry hangover” on Friday after meeting at 1 p.m. and finally stepping on the floor at Abbotsford at 8 p.m.

“That’s a long time, and it took us awhile to get into that game,” he said. “But I think we can play with that team.”

New addition Russell Thomas scored two goals, as did call-up Connor Buick. Other T-men goals came from Rick Fields, Billy Good, Jon Diplock and Ryan Clark. Pat Mallough suffered the loss in goal.

The next day’s loss saw an undermanned Nanaimo team fall behind 6-0 after one period. Diplock scored twice and Thomas had the other goal. Kevin Good was the goalie of record.

GAME ON … Nanaimo (3-4) plays Ladner (4-1) on Thursday (May 31) on the mainland.
