Clippers will bring 'work boots'

Nanaimo’s B.C. Hockey League club is busy again this week with three games.

The Clippers have shown their capabilities. Now it’s about creating consistency.

Nanaimo’s B.C. Hockey League club is busy again this week with three games. The Clips play the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Wednesday (Oct. 23), visit the Victoria Grizzlies on Friday (Oct. 25) and then host the Trail Smoke Eaters on Sunday at Frank Crane Arena.

The Shipmen are coming off back-to-back wins last weekend, including one over the hosts of next spring’s RBC Cup, the Vernon Vipers.

“As a young team … something we want to create here is a sense of belief,” said Mike Vandekamp, Clippers coach. “Wins like [that] are supposed to do that for you and hopefully it does moving forward.”

The Clips know it takes more than just a little momentum to win BCHL games, though.

“We’ve got to bring the work boots every night and we’ve got to show up ready to play every night,” said Jayson Argue, Clippers goalie.

GAME ON … Nanaimo and Trail face off Sunday at 2 p.m.
