There will be a little extra motivation for runners at the Cedar 12K this year.
The event, to be held Sunday (April 9) is the final stop on the Vancouver Island Race Series. The Cedar race is usually held in early February each year, but the schedule was shaken up for 2017.
“We look forward to hosting the final race…” said John Durkin, race director, in a press release. “Cedar 12K has always been a popular race in the series and we should get a strong turnout. It will be down to the wire as well for the overall series champion, so it will be an exciting day.”
The race starts and finishes at North Cedar Intermediate School on Gould Road.
Registration is from 9 a.m.-10:15 a.m. on race day or in advance at www.islandseries.org. There is a 10:30 a.m. start for walkers and slower joggers and the rest of the runners set out at 11 a.m. Cost to register is $30 for adults or $40 on race day. Cost to register for youths is $25.
