Boxla women win two more

The Nanaimo Island Stone Supply Timbermen junior women’s lacrosse team swept a pair of home games on the weekend.

The team defeated two different Coquitlam teams Saturday and Sunday at the Nanaimo Ice Centre by scores of 9-3 and 7-3, respectively.

In the first game, Marissa Jordan, Toni Angell and Carllie Ashlie each scored two goals and Maggie Paugh, Cassandra Livesey and Megan Cawthorne also tallied. Victoria Kultgen and Amanda Kowatski had two assists each.

The next day Jordan again scored twice and Ashlie, Kowatski, Livesey, Nicole Martinetti and Angell also found the back of the net. Kowatski picked up three assists.

On May 4 on the road the T-women lost their first game of the season, 8-4 against New Westminster at Queen's Park Arena. Jordan scored two goals and Marinetti and Angell had the others.

Next action for the junior women is Saturday (May 14) against Ridge Meadows at 11:30 a.m. at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
