Re: Keep your old power meter for a fee, July 18.
We do not have a “smart” meter. We do not want one. We do not feel that we should pay for special readings when a simple solution is readily available. Power comes into our home from a single wire which comes from a B.C. Hydro power pole about 20 metres from our home. The simple solution to this impasse is that B.C. Hydro installs the “smart” meter on their end of that wire. I will accept the risk of a power leak along that 20 metres of wire.
Further, I should be able to keep my existing analog meter as a check on the “smart” meter.
Why isn’t this simple solution adopted by B.C. Hydro?
