Residents abuse visitor centre

NANAIMO – Tourism rest area not a park-and-ride for city residents.

To the Editor,

I have been driving the Nanaimo Parkway for some time now and have noticed  the Northfield visitor information and rest area is turning into a park-and-ride.

If council and Tourism Nanaimo is concerned about tourism with summer approaching, one would think the park and visitor centre would be for tourists to stretch their legs and find out information about Nanaimo, and for people using the Parkway Trail.

But with the increase of park-and-ride vehicles, it is getting harder for tourists to find a parking spot to get information.

Was this facility built to administer parking for Nanaimo residents while they go to work?

I think inappropriate use is in effect here.
