Pioneer status too confusing

I, too, am in support of retaining Pioneer Park for the well-being of residents of the City of Nanaimo.

Since this park is supposed to revert to the province in case it would not remain parkland, it only stands to reason that it remain a park.

I understand that the city has done some recent upgrades to the park, while paying rent to the school board – an investment that also would be best maintained.

If the city trades some land of similar value with the school board, does this mean it pays a lot more than the $1 it originally paid the province for the parkland?

Perhaps it would be better that the land simply return to the province and remain a park.

Taxpayers need some clarity on how and why these decisions were made. The situation is bizarre and baffling.
