Re: Council responsible on water decision, Letters, May 26.
Coun. George Anderson is very young, but he is learning quickly to think in terms of mind-jangling, soul-destroying, baffle-gabbing bureaucratese.
He has stated publicly in his letter that he is prepared to sell his soul with these words, “…it is my job to make evidence-based decisions, not decisions based on just my moral belief.”
It is good that he has ingenuously revealed this to us now, when he might still be saved.
Nanaimo city hall people get very far removed from reality with their huge salaries and power.
When I was being hounded by them to make my rental suite legal, with many costly renovations, I don’t think they would have cared if both myself and my long-term tenant had dropped dead of heart-attacks in the process, and it would never have appeared on their reems of documentation – just stamped – ‘Legal’.
