Re: Other sectors favoured as health care lapses, Letters, May 13.
Bureaucrats will go too far to save a buck on the backs of patients and nurses.
About 10 years ago I was visiting Vancouver for some weeks so I decided to pick up some temporary nursing shifts. I was sent to a unit for the elderly, none of whom could walk. I found, to my shock, that I, a stranger, was the RN in charge of the whole building. The nurse aides were efficient and capable, but it seemed wrong to me, to stick a stranger in that role, even if it fulfilled the letter of the law.
