Lots of blame to go around for burglaries

It’s just the all-too-familiar case of a very bad economic recession, which in turn is causing a lot of distress.

To the Editor,

Re: Police report increase in burglaries, Jan. 14.

It was not really too much of a surprise, because it’s just the all-too-familiar case of a very bad economic recession, which in turn is causing a lot of distress. The ongoing problem is yet again forcing some people to commit criminal acts.

Drug addicts need to commit crimes, mainly break-and-enter, to pay off the drug dealer – the main problem – in order to get the illegal drugs.

All the while, it’s the homeowners and the business owners who are constantly getting victimized because of this so-called justice system that’s a lot more like a merry-go-round that fails to deliver real justice to prevent the offender from going down the road to re-offend.

An ounce of prevention would turn around a wannabe into a productive citizen by just thinking outside of the box. It’s now time for a much-needed change of view.
