Letter writer challenged on facts about housing

To the Editor,

Re: Are we a welcoming, inclusive community? Letters, Oct. 18.

Paul Glassen states that he came from a community which was integrated and proud that they were. Why did he not name that community? Perhaps we could all move there and play ‘happy families’.

I somehow don’t think he has all the facts about low-barrier housing. Please, look it up online and you will see that the description is not about mentally challenged, but mainly about those who have ‘chosen’ their way of life through drugs and alcohol and will be allowed to continue using these substances while in the home.

I am afraid for our community as after 75-plus years on this planet and all my life in B.C., I find the politics, both municipal and provincial are leaning very heavily toward a dictatorship and that is very sad.
