To the editor,
Sidewalks are being built in many parts of the city. They are of course necessary in urban environments as a safety measure for pedestrians.
What I find puzzling is that Hammond Bay Road, an important and busy thoroughfare, is excluded from construction of sidewalks. The city states that it is very difficult to build a sidewalk in the Nottingham Drive to Tiki Way section. On the side closest to the ocean that is true, but there is no excuse not to construct a sidewalk on the other. None. Residents in this part of town pay taxes too.
