To the editor,
Re: Coffee shop worker and homicide victim a ‘vibrant, well-loved’ community member, Feb. 23.
In my 10-plus years living in Nanaimo, until now there have been no major or serious problems, relatively.
Now, the recent senseless and despicable act of the homicide of a 79-year-old – who liked his job and who was also a very caring person – has unfortunately changed my mindset.
Nanaimo is no longer one of the best and idyllic places to live in B.C. because Nanaimo has become lost in paradise with still-rising crime rates, criminal mischief, shoplifting and now homicide.
Elected politicians are still behaving like the three monkeys, the court system is about merry-go-round justice and the RCMP are doing repeat business and have limited powers to properly deal with the continuing problems. The citizens of Nanaimo are being caught up in it, much like one of those mazes but without an exit.
