Re: Silly slapstick with a valued message, Aug. 28.
I must, on behalf of all scouters – younger and older, past and present – protest the horrible and frightful bloody depiction of members of boy scouts in your arts section.
We witness almost daily alarming and widely reported incidences in personal bodily assaults; the taking of lives using easily concealed knives, firearms, and other instruments inflicting cruelty and death.
So, with these alarming examples, why on Earth would the two persons photographed choose to obtain, and wear, the official uniform of Boy Scouts Canada with face and hands covered in blood, brandishing a bloodied baseball bat and axe believing their feminist sketch comedy would be anything but grossly distasteful?
An insult to the boys and girls young and old and their superb volunteer leadership in the communities they have served so faithfully, for so long.
The comedy illustrated is highly suggestive of violence to, or among others, especially developing young minds. Not a laughing comedy matter, but in very bad and dangerous taste.
