Faith will see city through 'hurt-filled mess'

There is not a person on the planet (oh, except Christ) who hasn’t done a royal screw-up at some time.

To the Editor,

Although I don’t know them, I appreciated the way in which the three Christians represented me – a fellow believer in Christ – at this week’s city council meeting.

I appreciated that they spoke respectfully, intelligently, with sincerity, and did not repeat each others’ comments.

It is my sincere desire that these same believers councillors were accused of vilifying will help in pragmatic ways to dig the City of Nanaimo out of this financial, reputation-destroying, hurt-filled mess. There is not a person on the planet (oh, except Christ) who hasn’t done a royal screw-up at some time.

Stay respectful. Be diligent. And, with some help from some loving Christian citizens you’ll ride a wave out of this.

God bless you as you serve Him and His.

To the Editor,

Re: Conference centre hosts delegates, Vision Nanaimo, May 27.

How nice to read of the three upcoming conferences scheduled for our Vancouver Island Conference Centre this spring. Especially the 500 delegates coming for the Inclusion B.C. conference who will discuss justice, diversity, and inclusion for all. In addition, the United Church of Canada conference, a church which has a policy of acceptance and equality for all, regardless of sexual orientation.

These are the kinds of events the citizens of Nanaimo can be proud to have our VICC used for, rather than an event that utilizes sponsors and speakers with a history of intolerance and divisiveness. Let’s book more of these types of groups into our facility.
