Expand park for family use

Turn the reservoir into a nice, clean swimming pool for family-type activities.

To the Editor,

Re: Feedback sought on future of land, Oct. 4.

What a breath of fresh air to read that chief administrative officer Tracy Samra told councillors the staff recommends “not to give priority to search and rescue above all of the citizens of Nanaimo.” Thank you city staff.

Here’s a suggestion for the land and reservoir: Turn the reservoir into a nice, clean swimming pool for family-type activities. The infrastructure for any washrooms/changerooms is already in place.

Seeing how dogs and bicycles have taken Colliery Dam Park and most other nature trails, make the path around the pool dog and bicycle not allowed, so people like me are ignored by dog owners when asked to keep their dog away: “Oh, it’s OK, he’s friendly.” It’s my space, show me respect.

Have food trucks in the parking lot so doggers and bikers can share that area.

It could also have a campground and an area for doggers and bikers to camp.
