Connections of city byelection ‘frontrunners’ troubling

Perusing the byelection coverage so far, it looks like there is a business backed candidate and a labour backed one, both touting themselves as the ‘frontrunners’ due to those connections.

To the Editor,

Perusing the byelection coverage so far, it looks like there is a business backed candidate and a labour backed one, both touting themselves as the ‘frontrunners’ due to those connections.

Not sure it’s in the best overall interest of our city to have more power struggles from entrenched interests from either side?

Looking at the candidates’ websites and talking with others, Ian Gartshore impresses so far.  He seems to have strong and varied community connections and has an extensive track record of positive involvement.

Too, he proposes well-thought through concrete solutions to tackle the sticky issues facing council.

Perhaps most important, he seems balanced, cooperative and conciliatory in approach, something very much needed but apparently in short supply in the present bunch.
