Columnist’s climate change denial problematic for readers

The columnist’s views on global warming are indicative of the whole Harper conservative approach to climate change.

To the Editor,

Re: Global warming industry crying wolf, again, May 4.

The columnist’s views on global warming are indicative of the whole Harper conservative approach to climate change. Perhaps he also believes that Fort McMurray burning to the ground is just another early start to the forest fire season. Or that April wasn’t the warmest on record, or that weather records aren’t broken almost daily around the world. People are certainly entitled to their opinions. However, when those opinions are so ignorant and purport to be the truth, they become dangerous for the fact that there are many folks out there who may actually believe him in his capacity as a columnist and legislative reporter for Black Press. The quality of your publication is reflected by the optimal placement of his opinions in the main section of your paper.

There are reasons why the dinosaur Conservatives imploded in the last election and the columnist’s opinion is a perfect example of why. If your intent was to exemplify those reasons by placing his message directly beneath a cartoon of Harper becoming unravelled, then you have succeeded. Well done.
