Child poverty exaggerated

The letter writer says, “B.C. has the highest child poverty rate in Canada.” A pure lie of propaganda.

To the Editor,

Re: B.C. government isn’t in the giving spirit, Letters, Dec. 16.

The letter writer says, “B.C. has the highest child poverty rate in Canada.” A pure lie of propaganda.

In 2007, B.C. and Manitoba had the highest child poverty rate at 18.8 per cent. Manitoba, which has an NDP provincial government, had the highest child poverty rate in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012. B.C. had an NDP provincial government from 1992 to 2000 and the child poverty rate was never below 20 per cent.

Outrageous comments are annoying and insulting to the reading public.
