Cedar school revived by fair process

When we had a vote on schools, we got off our butt and voted. Quit whining, Nanaimo.

To the Editor,

Re: Sports groups should share education costs, Letters, May 26.

When Cedar residents wanted to use recreational facilities in Nanaimo, we had to pay extra. In the early 1970s, Cedar decided to build our own facilities.

Victoria was approached for funding, but we were informed Nanaimo had been collecting these funds for years. When the city was asked for reimbursement, we were told it was a clerical error.

Harmac was Cedar’s tax base, but the city ended up with it.

We had no vote on either case.

When we had a vote on schools, we got off our butt and voted. Quit whining, Nanaimo.
