Beef to the ungrateful woman who sends in beefs and then pretends they are from someone else. Everyone knows it is you. Enough attention seeking. Bouquet to the Realtor for ending the years of abuse.

BOUQUET To the amazing team of care partners at Eden Gardens. The support services team, administration, care team, management team and the board – each and every one of you make someone’s world more joyful.

BEEF To the city and the owners of the run-down property across from Departure Bay Beach. This beach should be one of Nanaimo’s gems. Come on, can’t we make it a little more attractive for the enjoyment of residents and visitors?

BOUQUET To the helpful staff in legislative services at Nanaimo City Hall, particularly the nice young lady who not only helped me with my queries, but went above and beyond by taking the time to assist me in crossing the street to the services and resource centre. You are truly one of a kind.

BEEF To the auto parts chain. Lately nothing is available. Fortunately it’s just a one-block walk to the long-established family business that usually finds items in stock or the next day.

BOUQUET To the parts man at the GM dealership on Bowen Road for going out of his way to install a small part on my car this grey-haired lady couldn’t manage. Thank you.

BEEF To the lazy people who use noisy leafblowers only to blow them onto the streets. I report you. You are not allowed to do this and they end up on someone else’s property. Hope someday this useless thing gets banned which is the talk in some communities now.

BOUQUET To Mr. Schewe pointing out the beefs of motorist complaints. You’ve only scratched the surface. I have so many more that it would take me about two months worth of entries recounting the thinking of clueless drivers around here.

BEEF To the two letter writers asking us Canadians to not support our Snowbirds. No I won’t do what you ask. I like them.

BOUQUET To Karen and the ladies at Nellie’s Dutch Deli. Not only a great lunch spot, her homemade chicken lasagne is delicious.

BEEF To businesses that will not make any effort to remove wasp nests that are visible and pose a threat to diners.

BOUQUET To Amanda of David’s Tea. Superb customer service, most honest, sincere and extremely professional. We loved your tea and coffee. Great choice recommendations. Very clean, warm and welcoming store. For sure, we are your repeat customers. Thank you.

BEEF To the Nanaimo Airport security worker for going through everything in my little transparent makeup bag with your filthy gloves on. How unsanitary. I was totally grossed out and ended up throwing out expensive makeup.

BOUQUET To the Nanaimo Blues Society and their annual Summertime Blues Festival. I’m not a huge fan, but it doesn’t matter. You are a tremendous asset to the musical community. Keep it up.

BEEF To the person or people who are using the tennis courts at Bowen Park for your off-leash dog park. Tennis players don’t appreciate having to clean up dog poop.

BOUQUET To all those who organized, donated, and volunteered at the Nanaimo ovarian cancer fundraising and awareness event. Special thanks to Harewood Quality Foods for the great venue and their very supportive staff.

BEEF As someone who works at VIHA, I am appalled at the number of smokers I see on VIHA property. Nor do not appreciate having to walk through clouds of this disgusting stench when I take my walk on my meal break. How hypocritical to state that VIHA is a ‘smoke-free’ environment when it is more than obvious that this policy is a joke.

BOUQUET To Hank’s Cycle Shop. You made a difference in this world. We miss you deeply.

BEEF To those who come to visit their loved one in our care facility, but then spend their entire time texting or playing on their phone instead of chatting with their family member. Time is precious and life is short, put down your phone.

BOUQUET To VIEX 125th anniversary. A great exhibition. This grandmother sends a special thank you for the extra benches and umbrellas in the amusement ride area. A wonderful event.

BEEF To the sadistic coward who shot the cat five times with a BB gun. Only a sick person would do that; to cause so much pain to a small helpless animal is unforgivable. Hope you are caught and punished.

BOUQUET To watch repair lady Bonnie at Hudson’s Bay. You are always friendly and helpful. Great service.

BEEF To the powers that be who have decided older women don’t need a mammogram. Ladies have one, no matter your age so you don’t have to live this bad dream.

BOUQUET A very heartful thanks to the artists who have painted and hung their pictures on hydro poles in our community. As I drive along the streets I am uplifted, inspired and motivated by these wonderful displays of love.

BEEF To the complainers of the music coming from the blues festival. If you don’t like it, put on your headsets and listen to the generic garbage known as Top 40. The blues in all its forms is real music coming from the heart and soul of the artist.

BOUQUET To Trish B., Dr. Denise Lea, and all staff at Trew Beginnings clinic. You go above and beyond the call of duty.

BEEF To those in emergency waiting rooms who yap loud and long on cell phones, and yell at their kids running wild. Have some respect and compassion for others there who are ill or in great pain and suffering. Get over yourself.

BOUQUET To the city for putting in lights at Westwood and Jingle Pot. So much easier to get through that intersection now. Beef to the lights themselves for turning red every time I come within sight.

BEEF To the ungrateful woman who sends in beefs and then pretends they are from someone else. Everyone knows it is you. Enough attention seeking. Bouquet to the Realtor for ending the years of abuse.

BOUQUET To Dan K. at Nanaimo Honda for his excellent customer service.

BEEF To the music festival. It went from a free concert for everyone to one that seniors can’t afford.

BOUQUET To Brenda at Central Drugs on Dunsmuir. She could tell how nervous I was about my upcoming surgery. She was so helpful and calming. Got me the product I was looking for with such a soothing voice. I felt way better when I left.

BEEF To the same wannabe Evel Knievel whose juvenile antics belong in a circus not on the streets. I am sure the RCMP want to catch your act.

BOUQUET I would love to give a big thank you to the ladies of Woodgrove Estates mobile home park’s knit and sew group for their unselfish love in knitting and donating more than 450 twiddle muffs and hundreds of lap blankets to many daycares, schools, and senior centres. I am very honoured and proud to be a part of these amazing ladies.

BEEF To the increased crime. This should not be the case in Nanaimo; therefore time to bring out the legal cleaning team.

BOUQUET A huge thank you to the person who wrote in a beef to the retired realtor who deceived grieving parents after the death of their daughter. Would like to know who you are still, but will respect your privacy.

BEEF To the person who stole a section of wood – you were seen doing the dirty deed.

BOUQUET To Nanaimo Honda sales and management. Thank you for exceptional patience and customer service. You have helped us out during trying times and we want to express our gratitude. Your honesty and kindness is above and beyond.
