Beef to Beefs and Bouquets for all bouquets and no beefs. It makes it lopsided with just one viewpoint.

BOUQUET To the retired couple I met leaving their friend’s home in downtown Nanaimo who asked if I would like a lemon meringue pie. I was headed to Corner Lounge and the pie was the talk of the lounge as I shared it around.

BEEF To veterinarians who refuse to humanely put down your poor old sick suffering pet and will continue to experimentally treat it. If the animal is old and suffering, do what the sad owner requests.

BOUQUET To all the staff at Rock City Cycles for all their knowledge and expertise. Special shout out to Mark who took five minutes to repair the chain on my son’s bike and get us back on the trails. That’s why we support our local bike shop.

BEEF To myself – I just don’t get it. Favourite used book store forced out to build current white elephant. Now a testosterone-geared multiplex. We’re stuck with twin white elephants.

BOUQUET To the wonderful Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular and for including traditional Christmas carols.

BEEF To the City of Nanaimo for the new garbage/recycle schedule.

BOUQUET To Steve at Eat Fresh in Parksville for going above and beyond the call of good customer service. I needed pearl onions for a recipe and when I couldn’t find them anywhere, I called Eat Fresh and Steve special ordered them for me.

BEEF To the designer of the recycling schedule. It’s impossible to determine which recycling/garbage day is which.

BOUQUET To Fountain Tire in Nanaimo. Even after some friendly banter and bargaining they still cheerfully check the date stamp on my SUV tires and assessed their remaining tread for me.

BEEF To Beefs and Bouquets for all bouquets and no beefs. It makes it lopsided with just one viewpoint.

BOUQUET To Rebecca, owner of Nanaimo’s Animal Magic Pet Boutique, for hosting a fundraiser toward doggie Rupert’s upcoming surgery. With photographer Michael Van der Tol, the pet portrait event raised more than $1,000.

BEEF Seems that people can’t comprehend that fireworks are illegal in Nanaimo and people down the hill on Glen Oaks Drive managed to terrorize our dogs several times in the month of December. Next time our only choice is to call the police.

BOUQUET To Rob at Autosmile, the window tinting company on the Ford property, for taking the time to do such a high-quality job.

BEEF To those who walk their dogs along the Nanaimo Parkway Trail and because you are away from residential, you just ignore your dog’s mess. The trail even supplies bags for you. Have some consideration for those that like to walk and enjoy the scenery.

BOUQUET To Rutherford Elementary School Christmas concert for an amazing traditional song selection to remind us of the real meaning of Christmas.

BEEF To the grey minivan driver in the parking lot of Quality Foods Bowen Road who backed into my car and drove away. You’re one of the many irresponsible drivers out there and probably should not be behind the wheel of any kind of vehicle.
