BOUQUET Happy new year to all readers! Today the News Bulletin carries on a tradition of publishing only bouquets on the first Beefs & Bouquets page of the new year. Beefs will return next week. For our Beefs of the Year, click here.

BOUQUET To the kind gentleman who paid a large amount on my perm because I let him go before me at Rutherford Hairstylists. I will pay it forward. Many thanks.

BOUQUET To all the people who hold open doors, give a courteous wave in traffic, a smile to a stranger and give kindness freely. Like Mother Teresa has been quoted, ‘do small things with great love.’

BOUQUET I spent a couple of weeks on the DRU ward of Nanaimo hospital and I was very impressed at the professional care I received. The nurses are so highly competent at what has become a very complex job while remaining kind, caring and helpful. The doctors and other staff were also first class. My only criticism is the food. It was truly awful. Nevertheless I thank those wonderful nurses, theirs is a qualification to be very proud of.

BOUQUET I would like to thank the Nanaimo RCMP for all that they do to help keep us safe while putting themselves in danger. I applaud them.

BOUQUET To the awesome folks at Garage Door Doctor who speedily repaired my garage door, but went far beyond anything imagined. They waived the bill, knowing I just lost my husband, even though I backed into their truck. I’m deeply touched.

BOUQUET To all the nice bus drivers – the past ones and the new ones.

BOUQUET To Jo at Canadian Tire. Thank you so very much for all your help.

BOUQUET To Windley Contracting for installing traffic lights on the construction site on Hammond Bay Road by the biological station. They have allowed traffic to flow smoothly during the lengthy period of road work.

BOUQUET To the hard-working people at Regional Recycling on Kenworth Road. I always donate my bottles; they are so thankful and I like the best how they treat the less fortunate.

BOUQUET I would like to thank the Nanaimo firefighters for all they do to keep our city fire-proof and help out with accidents on our streets.

BOUQUET To Premier John Horgan. Thanks for all you have accomplished since you have been our premier. You have done so much for B.C. and all its diverse peoples. Thank you.

BOUQUET To Sarah S., a laser technician and Anbry Skin Solutions. After my electrolysis and advice for proper skin care, I felt like a newborn. A true professional.

BOUQUET To Jen who was at the NRGH pain clinic. Your kindness, professionalism and organization will be greatly missed.

BOUQUET I need to shout out to Haven Society. To all of you, but extra loud to Jackie, Shelly and Suke from Boundary Crescent. Yes it’s your job, but you do it with huge, open, warm hearts.

BOUQUET To MGM Restaurant on their 35th anniversary. Great job, wonderful service, friendly staff. I will pop by anytime during your new hours, signed, tea and milk.

BOUQUET To the wonderful, caring, professional firemen who attended our car accident Tuesday in the Woodgrove Centre parking lot. They explained everything to us and even came back to check on us after attending another call.

BOUQUET To Sandy and her three collie dogs, plus a crew of volunteers who led 10 dogs through well-rehearsed dance routines to entertain the residents at Chartwell Malaspina Gardens. What a treat. Many thanks. We loved it.

BOUQUET Nobody deserves the name Top Quality more than the cleaners on Fourth Street. Items returned clean as a whistle, every time.

BOUQUET Thank you to Chief Fry, Chris and Terrence at Nanaimo Fire Rescue. Great job on our smoke alarms. Excellent service to our community.

BOUQUET To the beefer regarding the Northfield intersection on the parkway. There are times I have had to wait two or three light cycles to travel through Northfield. Yet everyone turning left to go onto Northfield gets through in one cycle.

BOUQUET To Discount Battery Warehouse on Cliff Street for fixing a battery lead two times for free so my little grandsons could use their riding toy. Your kindness is much appreciated.

BOUQUET To Vernie D. of the Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club for keeping members informed with the weekly ‘club chatter’ newsletter. Much appreciated.

BOUQUET To Bodhi’s Artisan Bakery. Your baguettes, bread, chocolate croissants and other creations are absolutely delicious. The owners and staff are a very friendly bunch.

BOUQUET To the doctors and staff at Lexitor Medical Clinic. Even though you have been short on doctors, you continue to treat people with such dignity, respect, good information, compassion and care. Thank you for being there.

BOUQUET A compliment for our Nanaimo News Bulletin carrier Don. Always delivers, never a wet paper or a paper that flies away. Great job!.

BOUQUET to Tyler or Taylor who works for BCAA from Nanoose. Very much appreciated the work and extra mile you put in on my Kia Soul. Great customer service.

BOUQUET To Shanghai City Restaurant. Thank you for a most delicious birthday dinner. Special thanks to Phoebe and staff for their kindness; it was truly appreciated.

BOUQUET To Parksville Family Ford, especially Dave B. for his exceptional customer service. You went way beyond the call of duty. We will be back because of this employee.

BOUQUET To casher Debbie at Northridge Quality Foods for her cheerful customer service.

BOUQUET To a nice man who paid for my candy at Purdy’s chocolatier at Woodgrove Centre.

BOUQUET To Ann at Hudson’s Bay lingerie department. Thank you ever so much for my bra fitting. I’ve never been more comfortable.

BOUQUET To Dillon at Cactus Club for his generous customer service.

BOUQUET To the lady who helped my son and I lift my winter tires back into my van after they rolled out in the Chapters parking lot. We would have been stuck without your help.

BOUQUET To a very nice, kind man, Darren, and to all the beautiful people at London Drugs pharmacy at Port Place.

BOUQUET To Milner Group for supporting Altrusa Nanaimo members by accepting garden debris at their recycle site from our Haven Garden work parties.

BOUQUET I need everyone to know just how caring a stranger was towards me at the ferry. I was to take a bus back up Island to Courtenay, and because of a mix-up was stranded at the ferry, no one able to pick me up. A kind gentleman stepped up and said, ‘If it were my mom in this predicament, I hope someone would do the same thing,’ and he paid a cab to get me home. Bless his heart. He even waited for the cab to drive away.

BOUQUET To the evangelical Christian mother for speaking the truth in the Supreme Court of B.C. In this increasingly secular world, with all the increased crime and hatred for our fellow man, it was very refreshing to read your quote. Didn’t God say we are to treat others as we ourselves would like to be treated?

BOUQUET To the letter writer for his letter regarding Don Cherry and free speech. I never cared that much for Mr. Cherry, but since he spoke out about the non-wearing of poppies, I am one of his fans.

BOUQUET To drivers who leave a large space at red lights. If the car behind me gets hit, it is less likely to hit my car.

BOUQUET To Const. Long of Nanaimo RCMP for retrieving my bike that was stolen during a break-in. Thank you. I appreciate your hard work and dedication to the citizens of Nanaimo. Please register your bike at Garage 529 so the RCMP can return your stolen bike to you.

BOUQUET To the person who found my lost mail key and turned it in to the lost and found at Country Club Save-On-Foods. What a huge relief to have it back. Thank you so very much. Mahalo!

BOUQUET To Royce and Lee at Home Depot. Two people who provide such friendly, knowledgeable and helpful customer service. You are both very appreciated and we hope Home Depot values you both.

BOUQUET To Maeghan and Annabelle at the Port Place Starbucks for their incredible kindness to my wife who was under untold stress after having to visit urgent care in a real emergency. Their genuine care for her went far beyond the call of duty that calmed her down after a very traumatic morning. They exemplify the true meaning of customer service.
