BOUQUET to NRGH ER nurses Kathleen and Janine for taking such kind and thoughtful care of our little boy and reassuring two worried parents.

BEEF To the city for not cleaning the sidewalks around Harewood Centennial park and the surrounding areas. Residents and Barsby school have done a pretty good job, but the city has not touched them.

BOUQUET To our wonderful neighbour and friend, Joan Lutes, who came over during the heavy snow falls and shovelled our driveway and sidewalk. What a kind thing to do.

BEEF To Premier Christy Clark. This all-too-obvious pre-election political snow job with this first-time home buyers’ program somehow missed the homeless people.

BOUQUET To the man who turned my wallet in to the customer service desk at Nanaimo North Town Centre.

BEEF To the City of Nanaimo’s new recycling days form. Very hard to tell which day is which. All pretty much the same colour.

BOUQUET To most customers who treat sales people respectfully. To the rest, who do you think you are? Give your head a shake.

BEEF To city and police. Either actively monitor a school zone for reckless speeders and hold people accountable for their actions, or take it away. Make up your mind. Vehicles going up Metral Avenue at 60-80 km/h is unacceptable.

BOUQUET To the staff and guest artists at Black and Blue Tattoo for their recent Tats for Tots event where they raised more than $11,000 for B.C. Children’s Hospital.

BEEF To people who talk on their mobile phone in public places like the library or on the ferry, and then turn on the speaker so everyone can hear your conversation. Get some manners and acknowledge how your rudeness affects those around you.

BOUQUET To the person who found my wallet in the parking lot at Save-On-Foods Country Club and handed it in.

BEEF Regarding the city multiplex, don’t even think to burden Nanaimo taxpayers with another white elephant.

BOUQUET To the Nanaimo MS Society for the lovely Christmas luncheon at the Kiwanis.

BEEF To whoever designed the 2017 garbage collection schedule. How do you tell one pickup day from the other? What a waste of money. I’m sure they will be re-doing them.

BOUQUET To the customer ahead of me who paid for my coffee at the Tim Hortons on Bowen. It had been a very stressful day at work. Because of your kindness, you made my evening volunteering easier to accomplish.

BEEF to the downtown bank. You didn’t clear the sidewalks on business days.

BOUQUET To all the beautiful people at the News Bulletin. Thank you very much for everything.

BEEF To politicians who don’t address the problem of buses on Hammond Bay Road. We need pull-offs for buses that keep tying up car traffic, causing long lineups of aggravated drivers.

BOUQUET To Van’s Garage on Townsite Road. He helped me with my work cart a while back. He wouldn’t take money for his time.

BEEF To the City of Nanaimo. My 2017 garbage/recycling schedule is addressed to ‘resident.’ I guess it is only when they want my money they remember who I am.

BOUQUET To the bus drivers Connie and Jody for a very nice personality and flexibility.

BEEF To the strata management who left us in the cold apartment for weeks. Solution of theirs is to dress warm inside in our apartment. Shame on them.

BOUQUET To some fast cashiers at Thrifty Foods and London Drugs at Port Place shopping centre.

BEEF To those customers who whine and complain about self checkouts, if you prefer not to have that be your future, may I suggest being kinder to your cashiers and customer service personnel. They are doing the best they can, whether or not they are ‘slow’ during a busy time.

BOUQUET To Vick Rai, a very nice, kind bus driver with a nice personality. Thank you for your very good bus driving.

BEEF To the city for leaving mountains of snow around bus stops. I have a hard time getting in the bus when it is like that.

BOUQUET To Luke from Home Appliance Services after a panic call to him about our fridge not working. No repair – fridge was turned off. He didn’t want payment until he was sure fridge was working and came back days later to make sure.

BOUQUET To Country Grocer at Southgate mall. You are all very friendly, professional and helpful. Please ask the purchaser to bring in hot and spicy ketchup.

BOUQUET To Tyler at Bowen Country Grocer for being so helpful to the lady with the walker at the vegetable freezer.

BOUQUET To the Good Samaritan on Latimer Road who shovelled the snow from my driveway and sidewalk.

BOUQUET To the wonderful staff at Woodgrove Co-op gas station. Have a wonderful holiday – all of you.

BOUQUET To city snow removal crews and also to residents who keep sidewalks and pathways clear.

BOUQUET To Julia, a beautiful cashier with a very nice personality at Atmosphere in Country Club Centre. Thank you for being so nice.

BOUQUET To all those who took care of their driveways these last couple of weeks so I could get the paper to your door.

BOUQUET to the new tree farm on Jingle Pot at Mill Road. Friendly, kid-pleasing service and gorgeous trees. This is their first year selling trees after planting. The older gentleman made my daughter’s Christmas by letting her take home her very own ‘mini-tree’ to decorate herself.

BOUQUET To B.C. Lottery Corporation for the tone that comes from the new grocery store cashier terminals. I almost walked away several times but the chime kept me from wandering far.

BOUQUET To the Salvation Army bell ringer at Wal-Mart in old English garb, complete with top hat. Everybody smiled.
