Arts aren’t a priority

There are numerous arts facilities in Nanaimo already.

To the Editor,

Re: City must have arts and culture, Letters, Dec. 18.

The letter writer’s heartfelt support of the arts overlooks one very important fact. There are numerous arts facilities in Nanaimo already. Nanaimo culture is well served with performance spaces, art gallery, museums and sports facilities, etc.

The letter writer is free to donate to the theatre of his choice if he feels it is being short-changed. But I doubt if he has ever been homeless. With Nanaimo’s current facilities for the arts, and lack of facilities for the homeless, perhaps our politicians, and the letter writer, need to adjust their priorities.
