In loving memory ~

Bill (Dad) lived a fulfilling life. He was born in Val d'Or, Quebec, to John and Elsie. He was the eldest of four children, Deanna (predeceased), Peter (Charlene) and the youngest, Mary-Anne (Gary). At age eleven, the family moved to the Greater Vancouver area, where they owned and operated the local grocery store. He married Anna Page (nee Hopkinson) (2003) and became a devoted father to her three daughters - Cindy Nash, Laura Lean (2018), and Christine (Tina) Pealey. Together, they welcomed their daughter Michelle (Ian Cummings) and between them, they have ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild, with another on the way.

Bill went to SFU to further his education and studied many subjects. Professionally, he worked as a longshore worker and later became a foreman. During this time, he spent seven years in Prince Rupert, eventually returning to Vancouver, where he met his partner, Rhea Laundy (separated). They both retired and moved to Nanaimo where he has spent the last 10 years.

Bill's legacy is one of kindness, compassion, and generosity. He touched the lives of many people, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Let us remember Bill for the wonderful person he was and strive to be more like him every day. He inspired us all, and his legacy will continue to inspire us for generations to come.

Bill always had a deep appreciation for nature and wildlife, with a particular fondness for birds. He has volunteered at Morrell Sanctuary for several years and could often be found there on Thursday mornings.

Bill loved to travel and seek out new adventures. He was determined to see the world and made a valiant effort to do so. Now he is on his last, biggest adventure.

So this is so long to a friend, a neighbour, a cousin, an uncle and great-uncle, grandpa (papa) and great-grandpa and of course...Dad

There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Donations to Morrell Sanctuary Nanaimo, B.C., would be greatly appreciated. In fact, you are welcome to visit his memorial bench at the sanctuary.
