Wesley George Sheard

April 3, 1942 – July 30, 2016

Born in New Westminster, BC, Wes passed away peacefully on July 30, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He lived most of his life on Vancouver Island. He was trained as a saw filer, but was a sawmill manager for most of his career until he retired 10 years ago. Honesty, integrity and hard work were personal attributes that contributed to his successful career. He was a past president of the Social Credit Party for the Nanaimo Constituency and was a member of the Vancouver Island Natural Gas Pipeline Committee. He enjoyed spending time with family and especially treasured attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, watching hockey (Vancouver Canucks) and baseball games, music, travelling, oatmeal raisin cookies, playing crib and sitting around the campfire. His sense of humor, Christmas village and cherry cakes will all be missed.

He is predeceased by his parents Herbert and Ruby and his brother David. He is survived by his partner of 29 years Judy Clark; his sons Patrick (Bev) and Dave (Colleen); his stepson Dale (Robin) Nicks; his grandchildren Chris, Erin, Ryan, and McKenzie; his sister Vivian (Harold) Hanson; his brother Lee (Linda); extended family; and close friends.

A celebration of life will take place at the beach house in Courtenay on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to YANA.
