Svendsen, Thor

Aug. 8, 1927 – Dec. 7, 2015

It is with great sadness we announce Thor’s passing. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He leaves his devoted wife Joan, of 63 years, daughters Ann Svendsen (Todd) and Janice McMillan (Adam), and five grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son Nels. Thor was a commercial fisherman for most of his life. He loved fishing, his family and cruising. He had a dry wit, quiet intelligence and a warm and engaging way with people. His family and friends loved him and will miss him dearly.

When I come to the end of the road,

And the sun has set for me,

I want no rites in a gloom filled room,

Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little but not too long,

And not with your head bowed low,

Remember the times that once we shared,

Miss me-but let me go.

In keeping with Thor’s wishes, there won’t be a service. His family will gather at a later date to celebrate his life.
