Taimi Muriel (nee Vesa)
On Saturday, August 31, 2013, Mom passed away soon after visits from her many family members.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Fred, in 2006; left to mourn are her children: Sonja (Tom) Mullan, Alf (Janet) Ostrand, Barry (Ginny) Ostrand, Beverley (Earl) Nicholson; grandchildren: Randall Mullan (Su-Lin Shum), Carrie (Dave) Maharajh, Corey (Heidi) Fleming, Kyla Nicholson (Todd Swanson), Jon Nicholson, Jillian Ostrand, Tess Ostrand; and two great granddaughters, Kirstin Maharajh and Valerie Mullan.
Mom was born in New Finland, Saskatchewan on April 28, 1920, the third of eight children and grew up joyfully in Meadow Portage, Manitoba. She joined her older sister in Vancouver in the late 1930s where she met our Dad at a Scandinavian Dance. They lived in Ladysmith with their young family and came to Nanaimo in 1951.
Mom passed on the greatest gifts for living. She taught us by example to be patient, kind, and loving. We cherish this legacy and also the memories of many wonderful family gatherings celebrated with Mom’s excellent cooking and baking, and the bounty and beauty of her garden.
Thank you to Dr. Kazanowski and the wonderful staff at Kiwanis Lodge for your care and support given to our Mom and our family.
