Sidney Keith PURROTT

February 18, 2006

At home with his family by his side, Keith passed away peacefully from congestive heart failure on February 18, 2006 at the age of 82. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; three children, Keith Jr. (Barb), Barbara Caponero (Bob), and Janice Jackson (Art predeceased); five grandchildren, Kelly and Jeff Purrott, Tawnya Wickett (Jess), Jon Matwiv, and Adam Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Raven, Sajes and Joshua Wickett. He will also be fondly remembered by his many friends he met along the way. Keith was born January 20, 1924 in Vancouver. After serving in WWII, he worked in the office of Louis Wolfe Stevedoring on the Vancouver waterfront for 22 years and in 1969 was transferred to Nanaimo with Canadian Stevedoring, retiring in 1985 due to heart problems. He proudly served with volunteer work for the Nanaimo Auxiliary to NRG Hospital for many years following. He spent countless early morning meetings with his friends in the swim “club”. Keith and Dorothy enjoyed their summers boating in the Gulf Islands; as well as many vacations to Hawaii and Caribbean, Mexican and Alaskan cruises. He will be sadly missed by all who loved his friendly manner and great sense of humour. The family wishes to thank the compassionate, excellent staff at Berwick on the Lake for his last six month’s of care; as well as the medical professionals in cardiac care at NRG Hospital who knew Keith over the past 25 years. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation may be made in his memory.  A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the Nanaimo Golf Club, 2800 Highland Blvd., Nanaimo, BC, at 2:00 pm.
