On March 21st 2020, Seppo Hokkanen passed away peacefully in Nanaimo General Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Jean (Marjean), step children Marty, Tony, Belinda (Brian), sister Raili, nephews Scott and Brent (Michelle) and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Seppo was born in Nastola, Finland and emigrated to Canada in 1951 with his parents and sister. The family settled in Lac La Hache. B.C., where he spent his childhood. In 1974 he moved to Nanaimo, where he worked as a sawyer until his retirement.
In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and curling. Seppo was a very sociable person who enjoyed talking to everyone. He supported the Nanaimo Clippers and had seasons tickets for many years. In 1998 he joined Nanaimo Legion 256, where he volunteered as Chairman of the Gaming Committee, and assisted with their many charitable donations.
Seppo's family would like to give special thanks to his neighbours in Willow Park for the unconditional help and friendship he received, particularly in the last year of his life.
