Jun 27, 1931 - Jan 5, 2018
Ronald David Caldwell left this world on Friday, January 5, 2018.

Born on a farm near Yellowgrass, Saskatchewan on June 27 1931, Ron and his family faced many hardships. The perseverance and tenacity he learned in childhood helped him rise above several challenging physical conditions including, in the last years of his life, Lewy Body Dementia. His faith in a loving God was the foundation on which he built his life.

Ron was a skilled carpenter and spent many years happily building houses. He was an independent contractor, founded Delwood Manufacturing and was instrumental in establishing the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

He was a loyal son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and great uncle.

He will be remembered for his playful spirit, quick wit, tenacious will and encouraging words by his "Sweetheart" and wife of 60 years, Erna (nee Kiselbach), daughters Lori, Lynn (Martin) and Diane, grandchildren Karena (Cory), Bronwyn (Brian), Garreth (Morgan), Gawain, Luther, Ysabel, Ivan, Caoimhe, Tadhg, great grandchildren, Markus, Jacob, Keira, Noelle, Kiersten, Annika and Kaitlyn, siblings Marion (Barney), Gerry (Lila), Marj (Ron) and Ted (Lois) along with many cherished sisters in-law, brothers in-law, nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, January 19 at Generations Church, 1300 Princess Royal Ave, Nanaimo, BC with Rick Higgins officiating.

Those who so desire may make memorial donations to Habitat for Humanity, #1 - 4128 Mostar Road, Nanaimo, BC, V9T 6C9.

"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine." Ron's merry heart did much good for so many.

He will be greatly missed.
