FOSTER, Robert Roland
October 7, 1921 – August 28, 2015
FOSTER, Robert (Bob), native son of Nanaimo, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2015 at Berwick on the Lake.
Bob was predeceased by his mother, father, and sister. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gladys; his children, Robert “Cam” (Barbara) Foster and their children, Jennifer, Derrick, and Anthony; Jonathon Edward (Ruth) Foster and their children, Matthew and Georgina, stepson, Courtenay “Corky” Alan (Patricia) Place and their children, Lori and Sanford; great-grandchildren, Kyla, Maggie, Jacob, and Halayna.
Bob served as a leading Aircraftman with the RCAF during WWII. After the war, Bob made a career of surveying until his retirement. He was a member of the Nanaimo Motorcycle Club, and was a long-time president of the Nanaimo Little League Minor Baseball Association. Bob’s main hobby was reading up on financial information, world affairs, and history. He enjoyed wine-making, curling, and baseball, but still found time to build his own home on Pine Street, of which he was very proud.
Bob will be remembered for his soft spoken and quiet manner, and for his love of his family.
